Painterly Pair
We're Bond & Bowery, a website with the most diverse selection of antiques, design, and fine art in cyberspace. We highlight quality pieces without the clutter of competing ads and excessive editorial content. B & B understands the importance of a valuable acquisition and its contribution to home decoration.
Your B & B Host: I'm George Evans, and I've spent the last 20 years importing and exporting antiques and fine design pieces from Europe. I'm a New York City dealer and I have two showrooms in Lambertville, New Jersey.
This week we're bringing you The Birdman and Blue Nude, from G. Evans Ltd. Antiques, located in No. 8 Bridge Street in quaint Lambertville, New Jersey. These two paintings, both by widely-collected artist Gerald Coarding, are dramatic abstracts. Both were painted in 1953 on nearly-identical canvases.
You can hang one or both of these tall, bold paintings on a wall to bring drama and life to any furniture grouping. In the photo below, look how the pair of Andy Warhol paintings add interest flanking the fireplace of this art collector's bedroom, a treatment done for the 2007 Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse by Jed Johnson Associates.
We think one or both of these Gerald Coardings would look beautiful in your home, too.
For a more in-depth discussion about the work of Gerald Coarding, see my By George! interview with Design2Share. And visit Bond & Bowery for the item detail pages on The Birdman and Blue Nude and direct dealer contact information on these mid-century modern masterpieces.
