Fabulous, Theatrical Buenos Aires Bookstore
Ever since we saw a photo of the Buenos Aires bookstore Libreria El Ateneo Grand Splendid from National Geographic Traveler, we fell in love with this completely over-the-top setting for book peddling.
The once-scheduled-to-be-demolished 1920s theater was restored to its operatic, ornate original lustre and is an amazing place to select a book from the shelf, retire to one of the boxes, and sip some coffee while you let the world go by.
We did a little digging and came up with a wonderful blog post that pays homage to some of the most beautiful bookstores and libraries in the world. You'll enjoy Taringa's Las Bibliotecas mas lindas del mundo (roughly translated the most beautiful libraries in the world - even though there's a bookstore or two thrown in for good measure).
Enjoy the photos of worldwide book splendor in the blogpost, and here are some more Grand Splendid scenes below. Buenos Aires is definitely on our must-see list.
Literary Mood: You'll feel like you're browsing through the finest bookstore in the world, sipping the most delicious cup of coffee ever when you add Bono Mugs to your household tabletop decor. These handsome, value-priced mugs from Design House Stockholm come in a black gift box, perfect for giving a little brew present to your literary chums (or to yourself; lucky, you!). The Bono Mugs have just come in at the Design2Share Store at OpenSky.
