Where are we going?
Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico, USA
What's to see?
It's jaw-dropping what you'll find in this beautiful (and mostly underground) national park. Surrounded by the rugged Guadalupe Mountains and the barren Chihuahuan Desert, you're going to either hike your way into the caverns or descend through an elevator shaft that takes you into gigantic subterranean chambers to view fantastic cave formations.
Artful illumination from thousands of white lights show you the stalactites and stalagmites along with other cave features. Over 30 miles of passages have been explored in this huge cave system, and you can only tour a small fraction of them. The deepest chamber is 1,037 feet below the surface. If you're visiting during the warmer months, you'll get to see the swarms of bats that make their home in the caverns.
