This Design2Share online collectible find is a 1950s Belgian Fountain. 

Details

  • Made in 1950s
  • Belgium is the country of origin
  • Piece consists of curved stone surround, bowl, and statuary - condition is good, with worn patina and a few chips
  • 4 feet 9 inches tall x 10 feet diameter; bowl is 67 inches round; statuary figures height is 57 inches; surround measures 9 inches deep

 

Verdict

We're on the fence with this one, folks. The asking price (click on any photo to visit the 1stDibs.com dealer page) is a bit steep for a fountain of unknown origin, and from the fairly recent Fifties. Could there be a bit more negotiating room?

With that said, we love fountains, and that's why we (the editors at Design2Share) chose this piece in the first place. Wouldn't it look beautiful as the focal point for a large garden or a circle drive (great feng shui for the entrance of a home)? The scale is large and generous, too. All too often, garden and water features are dinky and get swallowed up by an expanse of green lawn. This fountain would stand its ground.

As the weather gets nicer, homeowners turn their attentions to sprucing up their yard and outdoor rooms, and this fountain would be a strong addition for any traditionally styled property.
