Perfect Planters

BB.gifWe're Bond & Bowery, a website with the most diverse selection of antiques, design, and fine art in cyberspace. We highlight quality pieces without the clutter of competing ads and excessive editorial content. B & B understands the importance of a valuable acquisition and its contribution to home decoration.

Your B & B Host: I'm George Evans, and I've spent the last 20 years importing and exporting antiques and fine design pieces from Europe. I'm a New York City dealer and I have two showrooms in Lambertville, New Jersey.

It's time to garden! This week we're bringing you a short French Compo Planter and a tall French Composition Planter, both from Dean Antiques, located at Core One, The Gas Works, 2 Michael Road in London. Their U.S. location is at Harbor View Center for Antiques, 101 Jefferson Street in Stamford, Connecticut. One of these composite gems is in a 15.5-inch-tall shape reminiscent of a handkerchief while the other has an impressive 37-inch height and a beautiful slender tulip-shaped form.

These two planters, called "compo" or "composite" because they are made from a mix of cement and fiber, can be grouped together quite successfully in either an indoor or outdoor setting.  Look how beautifully planters of different heights can liven up an entrance hall, as in this San Francisco charmer designed by Michael Taylor and updated by Suzanne Tucker.

We think our composite planters would look beautiful in your home or garden, too.

For a more in-depth discussion about these planters, see my By George! interview with Design2Share. And visit Bond & Bowery for the item detail pages on the French Compo Planter and the French Composition Planter and more information on this fun pair of planters.
