Add Easter Touches to Your Home Decor

Jessica Ackerman - Decorating your home for Easter is a great way to celebrate the holiday. If you've already added some spring decor to your home, it can be especially easy to add a few holiday decorating touches. Instead of purchasing Easter-specific decor, why not just add a few decorative accents to the wall art and accessories you already have? Here are a few tips you can use to spruce up your wall art for the holiday.

Spiritual Wall Art

If you've already decorated one or more walls in your home with pieces of spiritually-themed art, the Easter season is the perfect time to highlight them. Metal wall crosses can be accentuated by displaying an Easter-themed tapestry on the same wall. You could even create a wall art grouping, using the cross as the centerpiece. You could also create an arrangement of Easter lilies on a nearby shelf or table top, adding to the overall look.

Fun and Playful Touches

It can be fun to add a few playful decorating touches to your home for Easter, especially if there are young children in the household. Easter bunnies, Easter eggs, and other seasonal decor can be worked in with your existing wall art to add a playful look. Start by assessing your decor to find areas where Easter items can be incorporated. For example, tree wall sculptures can be given a fun Easter touch if you place plastic or foam Easter eggs on the branch tips. In order to create a nicely-balanced look, choose an egg size that works well with your tree wall art.

Accessorizing your shelves is another good way to add a fun Easter touch to your rooms. In a child's room, a pastel-colored stuffed Easter bunny toy can be used to add a decorative touch. However, you might prefer a more subdued look for the living room or family room. A naturally-colored stuffed bunny can be combined with colorful natural stone Easter eggs, artfully arranged in a wicker basket. If you're lucky enough to have one or more vintage stuffed bunny toys, incorporate them into your holiday decor as well!

Children's Artwork

Holidays provide great opportunities to involve children in the decorating process. If your child brings an Easter-themed drawing or painting home from school, display it in one of your existing picture frames and display it on your wall; and don't forget the honored spot, attached to the kitchen fridge with holiday magnets for all to see. Not only will this add a very personalized touch to your holiday decor, but it's also a great way to show your child that you're proud of his or her work.

Floral Easter Displays

If you already have one or more vases of real or faux flowers displayed in your home, use the vases for Easter flower arrangements. Easter lilies, daffodils, or tulips can all add a nice look. If you have daffodils or tulips growing in your flower garden, you'll be able to create a variety of beautiful floral displays around your home without the need to spend a dime on decorations.
