Pecan Bars
Emuna Braverman - My daughter made these for an event we held in our home recently and since then I’ve been besieged with requests for the recipe. Or, preferably, just a batch of the bars!
Ingredients
Crust:
½ cup margarine
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1½ cups flour
Filling:
1 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons honey
¼ cup margarine
½ cup pareve (non-dairy) whip
3 cups chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9 x 13-inch pan with parchment paper. Combine all the dough ingredients and press evenly into the pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
In a saucepot, combine brown sugar, honey, and margarine. Bring to a boil; then add the pareve whip and pecans. Pour mixture over the baked crust and bake for 30-35 min. Let cool; then cut into bars.
