In a recent editorial meeting, we discovered that we were falling into the self-imposed editorial trap that we were only annointing older, iconic designers with the mantle of Designers We Love for this Design2Share column. So we purposely decided to break our old habits in the New Year and recognize the talent of Dutch furniture designer Maarten Baas.

His work is groundbreaking and rule-breaking, and Moooi is starting to carry his Smoke collection. You'll see why we love this designer in the following video interview.
 

Jens Risom

We love so many of contemporary furniture designers, and Design2Share will eventually cover the lot, from Knoll to Wormley. But one at a time, and this post is dedicated to Danish designer Jens Risom who, along with other designers, joined forces after World War II with Hans Knoll to produce memorable home furnishings.

His lounge chair, desk, rocker, and other pieces are classics and excellent examples of utilitarian pieces that combine comfort and sculpture. The following Design Within Reach video features an interview with Jens Risom, still working and designing in his nineties and forever tongue-in-cheek. (Just the way we love design!)
