Irwin Weiner ASID - The Architectural Digest Home Design Show isn't the sole arbiter of style trends for the home, but it's interesting each year to see who exhibits and is putting money and public relations into their product lines. Will someone new break through the noise and become a standout and a true trendsetter? The following LifeMinute.TV video shows their favorite trends including some mid-price pro ovens and a refrigerator solution from Jenn-Air, US-made shagreen furniture from Skatemoderne, fascinating stereo speakers turned into high art from TON Art (each piece combines gold and light), and indoor-outdoor furnishings from Oasiq Outdoor Furniture.

Thomas Hamel and His Sydney Penthouse Challenge

Irwin Weiner ASID - The joy of being a top-flight, in-demand interior designer like Thomas Hamel is being able to work with a variety of projects that express your personal creativity. Working with a core design team, Mr. Hamel's Australian operation (he was born in the U.S.) runs like a beautifully oiled machine, turning out custom interiors and architectural designs that please his international clientele. The following video is from his World of Design TV show pilot, and it shows his team's response to a new penthouse styling project in Sydney - the task is creating a turnkey environment that wealthy buyers will want to purchase, space and furnishings and accessories in one luxe package. We're staying tuned to see if and when it becomes a regular series as this designer is well worth watching.

Put-It-Together Snow Spike Lamp Kit

Irwin Weiner ASID - If you want to add a seasonal lighting accent to any room - but this would be particularly magical in a teen or child's bedroom - consider the Snow Spike lamp from Light of Mind, a Polish accessories company.

They feature do-it-yourself, put-together lighting shades made from heat-resistant plastic (but still use cooler and safer bulbs - you know the drill) that look stylish on a simple swag bulb cable. I tried to find a supplier outside of Poland, but was unsuccessful (let me know if you have better luck); in the meantime, you'll need to order direct from the manufacturer. The following video shows you how the snowflakes are put together to form an intricate shade that celebrates the season.
