DESU Design 1-Line Spice Rack

Our publisher, Jay Johnson, shows off the new DESU Design 1-Line Spice Rack that he just set up in the kitchen of his Manhattan Upper West Side pre-war apartment. The heavy weight of the brushed stainless steel frame of the rack makes a substantial addition to kitchen decor while handsomely displaying spices in recycled glass cubes from Spain.

Jay demonstrates a few quick change decor tips for this spice rack, going from all-cooking to cooking-and-decoration in one easy step. Also watch the video for other applications for this handy storage rack.

There are advantages and drawbacks of buying a spice rack of which already consists of spices. Just a word of advice on the position of your spice rack, don’t place it too closely to the oven because heat from the cooker can be harmful to the virility of the spices.

Thanks, Spice Rack, for these great tips! The DESU Design rack doesn't come with spices in the recycled glass bottles; the rack I demonstrated was filled with my own kitchen spices. Your tip on rack placement away from the oven and stovetop area is excellent advice; the rack on our kitchen wall is directly opposite from the stove. Our editors add that placing a wooden shelf or other protruding shelf over the stovetop area isn't a great idea either. Keep that area either a free wall surface or an easy-to-clean backsplash.
