Modern + Versatile
Irwin Weiner ASID - Interior designers need a complete arsenal of resources at their disposal, 24/7. Our clients ask us for the latest, the newest, the best - and a good designer needs to keep asking questions, explore new resources, and find the right solutions to match an individual client's needs.
Sometimes the best resources, however, aren't the latest or of-the-moment. I tend to default to furnishings and home goods that are flexible. One good example is the Toot sofa system from Cassina. Designed in 2009 by Piero Lissoni, I find it a wonderful solution for those clients who love contemporary spaces. And is it flexible? You betcha.
- The four components to the system - trestle, base, armrests, and backrests - can be configured in many ways.
- You can create a wide variety of seating arrangements - open seating or more closed, "nest" seating. If we want an open daybed look, we can get it. If we want two backed systems facing one another in the ultimate conversation pit, so be it. Or we can go with the traditional sofa, either fully or partially backed with open or closed armrests.
- The upholstery options are endless - we can go a rich, cushiony leather covering or a fabric solution.

I totally love the interior for this one and would love to do the same concept. It looks so organized and cozy at the same time.
