Verdict
Are you kidding? We love this daybed! Documentation is available from the Museum of the City of New York showing that the bed did, in fact, come from George Gershwin's apartment, and to have a piece of this great music icon's custom-made furniture - and a lovely art deco creation in the bargain - it would be a pleasure to find this piece a new home.
If you're already an art deco collector, this is a no-brainer purchase. But even if you're not, the daybed would be great as a focal point to a room that features eclectic furnishings. The shelving is perfect to show off beautiful book collections, ceramics and pottery, art glass, or other collectibles.
And let's not ignore the utility of the piece. Lounge in comfort to read a great book, watch a movie on your iPad, listen to music, or take a catnap.
