Luck of the Irish
We're Bond & Bowery, a website with the most diverse selection of antiques, design, and fine art in cyberspace. We highlight quality pieces without the clutter of competing ads and excessive editorial content. B & B understands the importance of a valuable acquisition and its contribution to home decoration.
Your B & B Host: I'm George Evans, and I've spent the last 20 years importing and exporting antiques and fine design pieces from Europe. I'm a New York City dealer and I have two showrooms in Lambertville, New Jersey.
This month we're bringing you a Chippendale antique, an 18th Century Irish Carved Leg Game Table. The mahogany finish shows superb age and lustre, and the flip top reveals square candle cups and oval game piece wells (see photo below). Best of all, behind a swinging support leg, there's a secret drawer! This table comes to us from Black Tulip Antiques, 1370 South Broadway in Denver, Colorado.
A beautiful antique game table would look great against the wall of any room, as it would have been placed during Victorian times. It would then be pulled out away from the wall and into the room for use as a table for intimate suppers or congenial gaming. Here's a photo of an interior from the Kylemore Abbey in Ireland, showing a similar game table ready for use.
We think our game table would be a great addition to your home decor. Visit Bond & Bowery for the item detail page on this wonderful table.
And for a discussion about some other great pieces, please see my By George! interview with Design2Share.
