Dying from the heat.  Favorite Hot-Flash Beds

Bed_Seating_Combo.jpg

The Scoop Bed by Saba Italia has us intrigued by the concept of Pac Man as furniture inspiration. We love the idea of beds turning into seating, given the proper round mattress pad, of course. And check out our latest bed recommendations along with our Master Bedroom Design video!

Can't write anything.  Favorite Design Mag

Modernism_2.jpg

Design inspiration abounds with Modernism magazine, and now they have a great online edition. You'll love their insightful, delightful visual romps like The How House by Rudolf Schindler in the photo above.

Old hat.  Favorite Antiques

Santos_London_Teapots.jpg

Can you hear us gasping? We are in love with these unique Chinese export porcelain teapots with bird-head spouts and fish-tail handles from Santos London. Did you see their booth at the Spring International Art & Antiques Show at the Park Avenue Armory (April 25-29)? Lovely.

Psychotic.  Favorite Crazy Decor Idea

Delft_Dinnerware.jpg

For a contemporary, daffy update on the heavenly Chinese export teapots above, and all those staid but iconic Deltware from the Netherlands, try these Lovegrove & Repucci for Areaware Delft Dinnerware sets from Vivre. We love the grafitti and other New York grunge themes replacing windmills and wooden shoes.

Mowing the grass.  Favorite Thing to Mow & Grow

Green_Roof_Perspective.jpg

We're crazy about the Green Roof trend that's sweeping commercial and residential architecture. It makes so much sense, counteracting our continuous attempts to punch holes in the ozone. Our expert on the subject, Steven L. Cantor, has a new book you should order: Green Roofs in Sustainable Landscape Design.

And watch our D2S interview and New York residential landscaping tour with Steven in our Landscape Architects video!

Crying.  Favorite Kiddie Furniture

weimar_bauhaus_bassinet.jpg

Yes, Charlotte, there really was a fun, cuddly, colorful side to Bauhaus furniture. Look into this book with the Bauhaus bassinet on the cover.

Evil poking.  Favorite Expensive Music Gear

kharma_grand_enigma.jpg

These Kharma Grand Enigma speakers sell for a cool $1 million. You'd better want to crank up your tunes in a serious way or really want to hear those Star Wars space fights in a way you've never experienced before considering these bad boys.

Dying from the heat.  Favorite Hot Art Dealer

gasparowomanincheckeredshirt.jpg

It's rare to find an art gallery where the dealer has such an incredible selection of work, you would like to take everything home with you. Beverly Sacks Fine Art (sacksfineart.com) is such a rare find. One example of a Painting We Love is this stunning work by Oronzo Gasparo, Glorification of the Birth Anna Saporetti 1944.

Eating.  Favorite Online Goodies

richardsons_caramel.jpg

A fun concept -- collect locally-made goodies from a variety of cities and offer them to online buyers. Go to CityMade to order Buffalo's Lou-Retta's Chocolate Laced Popcorn, Rochester's Zweigles White Hots, Syracuse's Wango Tango Dinosaur BBQ Sauce (0rder this for the name alone!), Baltimore's MaryLand Style Crab Soup, and other delectables.

Mowing the grass.  Favorite Yard Buddy

Patio_Greenhouse.jpg

We love this durable, compact Redwood Patio Greenhouse from Smith & Hawken. Ladies and gentlemen, start your seed-planting engines. It's almost time to plant those tenders in the ground!

Old hat.  Favorite Antique Center

Paul Plumadore and Jim Tindell know how to host a party! Visit their Center44 at 222 East 44th Street in New York City to visit a host of excellent dealers.

Being a chemist.  Favorite Mind-Blowing Decor

Architectural_Artifacts.jpg

We fell in love with Chicago's Architectural Artifacts recently. They offer an amazing selection of high-quality items, all eclectic in nature, ranging from faux bois and fer forge to fireplace mantels, doors, garden furnishings, and historically significant furnishings.

Walking in the snow.   Favorite Pool Furniture

DelSolChaise.jpg

Pool boy, bring us a cosmo. Luxury lounging is definitely possible in the Del Sol Sun Lounger, with removable sun canopy, from Allegro Classics.

Chef.  Favorite Oven We're Lovin'

Gaggenau_Lift_Oven.jpg

If James Bond were a foodie, he'd have the Gaggenau Lift Oven. Its glass ceramic base lowers from the oven to the countertop. Load it up, touch a button, and your food is airborne and cooking away. Great design. Excellent space saver.
