Trippy to: Timbuktu, the fabled "from here to Timbuktu" trading, university, and spiritual city in Africa known for centuries as a meeting place for people, culture, ideas, rock-salt and other goods. Mud is the primary building material, and constant renovation is needed on all buildings in order to fight the constant eroding force of desert winds and sand.

Location: West Africa, in Mali; its Sahara Desert site is an important trade and caravan route that runs both east-west and north-south through Africa

Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens

Trippy: a short visual trip to a place of architectural or design importance

Trippy to: The Royal Exhibition Building, built in Carlton Gardens in 1880 for the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition, and later, the 1888 Centennial International Exhibition. It is one of the few remaining buildings worldwide from the International Exhibition movement, begun in the mid-19th century.

The building and gardens were enscribed on the World Heritage List in 2004.
