Prototype Daybed from Top Ergonomic Designer

Irwin Weiner ASID - Comfort isn't always about thick cushions. The science of ergonomics is starting to dictate furniture styles that conform to how the body can do work yet remain relaxed, supported, and harm free. Repetitive actions like sitting at a workstation all day and typing at a computer can lead to injury, and Humanscale comes to the rescue with workstation peripherals and accessories - including their Daybed prototype (see photo above and video below). The Daybed - from master designer Manuel Saez - would help homeowners spend a couple of hours comfortably watching television and/or typing at a laptop computer. The lower back, head, and feet are comfortably supported and the swing-arm table adjusts to the best angle for typing. Thanks to LX TV - Lifestyle Television - for this look behind the scenes at Humanscale as they work on this special lounger.

Designer Eva Zeisel Keeps It Playful

Irwin Weiner ASID - If you live to be over 100 years like ceramics and home goods design master Eva Zeisel (her 2001 Centennial Goblets are pictured above, inspired by an original martini glass design she made for Bombay Sapphire), you have to keep finding ways to reinvent your spirit. Every creative person, from writers and photographers to interior designers and architects need to return to the well of creativity, dip their cup, and drink until they are thoroughly refreshed. It's easy to burn out in any creative career - well, any adult life, for that matter - and Ms. Zeisel's video from the famed TED Conference circuit, is a priceless reminder of how we need to keep on ticking with joy, playfulness, and good will. Very inspiring, and you can read more about her life and see further samples of her work in Design2Share's Eva Zeisel: Designer We Love article.

Adrienne Chinn's Urban London Collection Celebrates the Gritty City

Irwin Weiner ASID - Digital images can make thrilling wallcoverings - witness the new Urban London collection of fab treatments from London's superb interior designer Adrienne Chinn, in collaboration with textile designer Annette Taylor-Anderson. Adrienne describes her inspiration for the new mural line, which also includes textiles, rugs, and hand-blown glass tie-backs.

"I was inspired by focusing on the things we walk by everyday but ignore or discount - the grilles, graffiti, man-hole covers and pavement marks. The more I looked the more I saw - patterns, textures, colors. I went looking for beauty in unlikely places, and I'm happy to say I found it. So many of us live in urban environments of buildings and concrete and we dream of escape to the country. But I say, look around you. The beauty may not be as obvious but it is there, and it's all the more appealing for its hidden quality."

The following video shows you more details of Adrienne's Urban London digitally printed wallcoverings.

Williams-Sonoma Founder - Kitchen Icon

Irwin Weiner ASID - You know you've really made it big when you've been on the Oprah Winfrey Show, but for food icon Chuck Williams, the founder of the Williams-Sonoma empire, I'm sure he probably had a clue that he'd arrived a long time before he landed on her show. The 94-year-old bachelor is literally married to his business, and it was a long and trail-blazing ride, bringing French cookware and high-end appliances into American kitchens. Remember: at one time, you bought old beat-up cookware from stacks on the shelves of hardware stores! Those times have changed forever, thanks to Mr. Williams and his Sonoma, California breakthrough store. Enjoy this video survey of his life and career.
