Skyline View
This apartment view underscores two points: the incredible design eye of the woman who lives here -- with quality collections of furniture and accessories that span the globe -- and an outstanding view of downtown Philadelphia, from both the wide expanse of floor-to-ceiling windows or the terrace.
-
Take a Seat
It's easy to see why this apartment's living room area makes a great entertainment space. Formal and casual groupings of furniture encourage guests to relax, balance a dish from a buffet table, or easily converse with their neighbors. The settee against the window has an undulating carved wood back, an antique typical of the owner's collection of European and Asian one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces.
-
Theatrical Backdrop
The living room boasts a large tapestry, an Egyptian scene that was likely once used as a theatrical backdrop in an early 1900s production. This view from the dining room table is through an orchid, typical of the owner's love for Asia and exotic beauty.
-
Place of Honor
An unusual secretary of unknown origin (Morocco? Algeria? France?) holds a place of honor on its own wall, glowing with intricate inlayed designs. It's the perfect anchor for family portraits, a collection of miniature bronzes, and religious icons.
-
In the Sun
The den is the perfect place to cozy-up in the cushion-filled daybed and read a book or watch TV. The detail in the fabric selections combine for notes of warmth and comfort.
-
Good Dresser
The bedroom dresser reflects the owner's refined sense of style and an appreciation for layers of pattern, color, and blended subjects. An example of the latter: the dressing mirror is flanked by tribal heads that blend beautifully with the Asian nudes in the wall art. The warmth of the wood in the dresser ties in beautifully with the warm tones of each object in this scene, from the native heads and oversized tassle to the upholstery on the dressing stool and occasional chair.

Perchance to Dream
The highly decorated green armoire is an ideal companion to the bed's quilted maize comforter and antique tapestry headboard. Fine Indian art prints flank the bed to create a space which surely much inspire exotic dreams that reflect the apartment's beautiful objects from the far corners of the globe.
