This week we're bringing you a beautiful Val Saint-Lambert Cut Crystal Vase, offered by our friends in Manhattan at Details at Center44, 222 East 44th Street. This vase is an impressive symphony of cut shapes, crafted in the 1930s by the famed Val Saint-Lambert Belgium-based crystal works. This fabled factory operation began in 1826 in a former Cistercian monastery complex and quickly became a sought-after source of fine art glass.

The generous 10-inch diameter and 10-inch height of this vase would make it a stunning  piece gracing any center hall table. Fill it with sprays of blooming spring branches! The vase would also look lovely on an end table, coffee table, or proudly perched atop a baby grand piano instead of the usual cliche candelabra. Look how beautifully vases can be displayed in a vitrene or biblioteque as shown below in a great Jackson, Mississippi living room designed by Nancy Price. Design tip: you can paint the inside of a vitrene a strong color like an orange or blue to help vases and other items pop, or you can line the back with fabric and install glass shelves and interior downlights for a dramatic effect.

Mirror Mirror

This week we're bringing you a Pair of 19th Century Carved Gilt Wood Oval Mirrors circa 1860, and they come to us courtesy of Acanthus Antiques, our dealer friends in beautiful Kensington, Maryland. You can't help but admire this George III style British couple, finely carved gilt wood. The acanthus carving on the frame and its excellent condition make this a rare pair indeed. Consider the scale of these mirrors, too, at 50 inches tall and 26 inches wide. They will make a grand statement on any wall.

Place a pair of mirrors in a foyer. You could have a console under one mirror and a bench under the other, preferably the height of the back of the bench should be the same height and width of the console. Although this is not symmetrical, the composition would be perfectly balanced and go with this matched pair of mirrors. Look how beautiful mirrors look when placed over entry hall console tables,  as in this stunning interior from Thomas Britt ASID, with Peter Napolitano's elegant architectural details.
