Paris Style Video: Hotel Style at the George V

Irwin Weiner ASID - Greetings from Paris! Jay Johnson and I are on Day 4 of our vacation in the beautiful French capital, and that of course means that we're on "assignment" for Design2Share. We never go anywhere without reporting back on residential and home trends, and that includes the latest international hotel scene and other looks in public spaces that will soon influence the shape of home style. Our fourth feature focuses on the beautiful, elegant, newly-restored hotel style of the most luxurious hotel in town, the Four Seasons George V. Considered the global flagship of the chain, this hotel is rich in history and now, contemporary elegance.

Paris Style Video: Favorite Places in Paris

Irwin Weiner ASID - Greetings from Paris! Jay Johnson and I are on Day 2 of our vacation in the beautiful French capital, and that of course means that we're on "assignment" for Design2Share. We never go anywhere without reporting back on residential and home trends, and that includes the latest international hotel scene and other looks in public spaces that will soon influence the shape of home style. Our second featured video is a Red Visitor interview with public relations and media local Camille Benech, and she gives her recommendations for restaurants and cocktail/bar spots, including The Raphael Terrace, Hotel Costes (photo below), Mathis Bar, and L'Experimental Cocktail Club (top photo).

You'll note the trend in these restaurants and watering holes for luxury, shine, and Old World glamour - or else a completely opposite low-key, quiet, darker elegance.

Design2Share Recommends - Summer Reading for Design Lovers

Irwin Weiner ASID - Whenever I'm in Los Angeles, I make it a point to visit the Hennessey + Ingalls Art & Architecture Bookstore. They have an excellent selection of books and sidelines that are outstanding, and here are some of the titles that really caught our eye while we were browsing through their tremendous stock. Click on each book cover for more information on what we think will be great summer reads; example: The Wallpaper Book by Genevieve Brunet (top photo) is a glorious full-color ode to the history, utility, craftsmanship, and artistry of wall covering, and the new artists who are expressing themselves in this decorative medium will amaze you.

Beijing Hotel Sensation - The Opposite House

Irwin Weiner ASID - It's our unofficial "Summer Vacation - Explore International Hotels" Week on Design2Share, and today's featured video focuses on one of the top-rated hotel properties on Conde Nast Traveler's latest Gold List, The Opposite House in Beijing, China. The modern architecture is daring and natural thanks to Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, whose design desires were to give guests a sense of surprise, soft lighting, comfort, and interaction with natural building elements. China has fostered an amazing number of new luxury properties, and you can click here to read more about the Gold List 2012 so you can explore any region of the world to find top-rated hotel and resort accommodations (including luxury cruise lines).
