Irwin Weiner ASID - I have enjoyed so many movies this past year - and I'm not a huge movie fan. D2S readers know that I do, however, love movie interiors, particularly those that stylishly portray another era.
The Help was one such movie, and it deserved to be nominated for Academy Awards in acting, with memorable turns by Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain (she's in two best picture nominees this year: The Help and The Tree of Life), Emma Stone, Sissy Spacek, Allison Janney, Cicely Tyson, Mary Steenburgen, and Bryce Dallas Howard playing the Southern Belle on steroids.
You'll see a southern version of Mad Men, with 60s style on parade, too. I loved the swoop from antebellum mansions and newly-married tract houses to poorer cottage style (actually lovely interiors for "the help," too). The following movie trailer will show you the visual sweep of Sixties Style that made this movie visually satisfying, a satisfying way to make the vivid story and characters come to life.
